山や海に入るとき森羅万象が養いていて自分と異なる時間の流れに囲まれているようなアウェイの感覚は誰もが経験するのではないだろうか。街々の掠れる音、先の見えない空、閃光のような一瞬の出来事に、人は無意識に無限の像を作り出す。これは神や精霊といわれ芸術や宗教の根底にあるものと考えられる。その像をろうけつ染めで表現する過程で、水に乗って動いた染料の粒子は再び布上に別の像を生み出していく。森を彷徨し気配を辿るように、他生物の視点、自分と全く異なる時間の流れから私が見い出した像、染めによってできた像、それぞれが結び付き構築される体系を追求している。

When entering mountains or seas, doesn’t everyone experience the sensation of being an outsider, surrounded by a different flow of time as all things in nature stir to life? The rustling of trees, unseen hollows, and events that flash by like lightning cause people to unconsciously create infinite images. These are considered to be the basis of gods and spirits, underpinning art and religion. In the process of expressing these images through batik dyeing, the particles of dye that moved on water once again give birth to different images on fabric. Wandering through forests and following presences as if tracing them, I pursue a system constructed by connections between images found from perspectives of other life forms, from flows of time completely different from my own, and from images created through wax dyeing.
